Rhythms to Routes
In collaboration with the Island’s Elder services and rehabilitation centers on Cape Cod and in the Boston area, we are conducting the first ever medically based research project of the benefits of ensemble drumming for the elderly, particularly people with Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological issues.
Our initial two year program has shown results, in that the participants report better mobility, flexibility, and coordination.
Our new study will use GaitScan and BRIEF technology under the supervision of Dr. Jay Segel and other medical professionals, and produce medically conclusive results pertaining to the befits of this activity.
